Which Appliances Generate the Most Fault Searches
Share of all appliance-fault searches by appliance type, alongside how many distinct faults we have documented for each.
| Appliance type | Share of fault searches | Faults documented |
|---|---|---|
| Air Conditioner | 30% | 66 |
| Washing Machine | 19% | 61 |
| Water Purifier | 17% | 21 |
| Induction Cooktop | 7% | 17 |
| Geyser | 5% | 14 |
| Television | 3% | 20 |
| Refrigerator | 3% | 24 |
| Dishwasher | 2% | 15 |
| Mixer Grinder | 2% | 9 |
| Kitchen Chimney | 2% | 10 |
Shares are of all appliance-fault search impressions, including brand-level pages, so per-appliance shares add up to less than 100%.
Fault Categories Across Brands
Brand error codes don't match each other — a Samsung “4C”, an LG “IE” and an IFB inlet fault are the same underlying problem. Grouping every documented fault by its underlying symptom shows which fault categories we have documented most across brands.
How Fixable Are They?
Most Indian appliance faults are not technician jobs. 57% are rated beginner-level and a further 40% are intermediate, leaving only 3% that genuinely need a professional. The median documented fix takes 20 minutes, and every guide leads with safety warnings before any hands-on step.
Key Findings
- The single most-searched appliance fault in India (by our search data) is the Aquaguard water purifier "Beep Alarm" fault.
- 57% of documented faults are rated beginner-level — fixable at home without a technician — and the median guide estimates a 20-minute fix.
- Air Conditioners draw the most fault searches, and the top three appliance types (air conditioner, washing machine, water purifier) account for 66% of all fault searches.
- Only 3% of documented faults are rated advanced (technician-level); the rest are beginner or intermediate.
- The most-documented fault category across brands is "not cooling", covering 54 of 297 documented faults.
- Every one of the 297 documented faults ships with explicit safety warnings before any hands-on step.

Methodology & What This Does Not Say
- Two datasets, both ours. Fault library: 297 hand-written fault guides across 36 brands and 13 appliance types. Demand: our own anonymised Google Search Console impressions (2026-07-06 to 2026-08-03), 31,345 impressions across appliance-fault queries.
- Difficulty and fix-time are the ratings authored in each repair guide (beginner / intermediate / advanced; estimated minutes), not third-party figures.
- Search demand is not a failure rate. It measures what people look up, not how often an appliance or brand breaks. A brand appearing more often here reflects search interest and our documentation coverage — never a claim that it fails more.
- Coverage caveat. Faults we have not documented yet cannot appear in the ranking, so the index reflects the most-searched faults within our library, which we expand continuously.
